Thank you for your interest in Punahou Aquatics Swim School (PASS). Our Summer Session begins June 17th to August 9th 2013.  Registration for the summer session will open in June 3rd 2013 at 6:00 A.M. We offer classes for competitive beginner through advanced swimmers in the evenings. There are no tryouts for PASS, but we are NOT a "learn to swim" program - please make sure your swimmer is able to swim at least 25 yards well without any assistance using a competitive swimming stroke (and would be ready after a short rest to do that again, for a full 60 minute class), and we will place swimmers with the appropriate instructor during the first week of class. Intended primarily for swimmers in grades 1-6 at the Competitive Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, PASS prepares swimmers to transition successfully to a swim team when they're ready for that challenge.  PASS develops and improves stroke technique for the four competitive swimming strokes, builds endurance, and teaches skills such as racing starts and turns.  PASS swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping using at least one of the competitive swimming strokes (freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly), and must be strong enough to swim back-and-forth for a full 40 minute class with short rest breaks. Our pool has no shallow end, so swimmers should be very comfortable in deep water. Please note that our swim levels are based on a competitive swimming model, and may be different from other swim schools:

Competitive Beginner - can swim at least one competitive stroke (usually freestyle) and safely make it from one end of the pool to the other. May need to learn other strokes and may need a lot of technique work on all strokes. Is strong enough to complete about 300 - 400 yards (12 -16 lengths of the pool) within a 45 minute class.

Intermediate - knows all four competitive swimming strokes, though may still need a lot of technique work. Is able to swim well from one end of the pool to the other, turn, and swim back for about 600 - 1000 yards total in a 45 minute class. Interested in learning racing starts and turns.

Advanced - strokes are looking pretty good! Still needs technique work, but is also building endurance to swim - turn - keep swimming, for up to an hour (the length of most beginning swim team practices).

For insurance purposes ALL SWIMMERS must be registered with USA Swimming, and pay the annual registration fee of $75.  This fee is paid in September each year, or when you first register with PASS.  Swimmers who are NEW to USA Swimming MUST provide a copy of their birth certificate or passport to register.

1) PASS Intermediate/Beginner (M&W): 6:30-7:30 PM June 17th to August 7th cost = $260 (10 slots)

2) PASS Intermediate/Beginner (T&TH): 6:30-7:30 PM June 18th to August 8th cost = $260 (10 slots)
 

3) PASS Advanced Swim School (M&W&F): 6:30-7:30 PM June 17th to August 9th cost =$310 (10 slots)

4) PASS Advanced Swim School (T&TH&F): 6:30-7:30 PM June 18th to August 9th = $310 (10 slots)

***Classes may be cancelled or rescheduled due to Punahou events and/or holidays.
